Tasting Notes
Our 2019 Cuvee Evelyna is a tribute to our Matriarch-Evelyn Trentadue and our eleventh vintage of this classic Bordeaux style blend. Only what we call the “drips”, went into this wine-a unique process of literally collecting drop by drop overnight of small volumes (less than 5% of the total) of wine from each lot. The blend is simliar to the previous vintage with Cabernet being the leading variety. The Cabernet brings in the blend structure with firm tannins and solid dark stone fruit core; Merlot brings in ripe plums and cherry aromas; Malbec adds more fruit with hints of violets and cassis; the Cab. Franc adds the “Bordeaux” essence with spice and herbal tones. With more air the wine shows a complex yet still in developing stage aromas and flavors of cocoa, cinnamon, toast and maple. The mouth feel is medium to full with relatively dense tannins with long and juicy finish. Drink now through 2025.
