Our 2023 Old Patch Red is back to Sonoma County! It is also 75% Alexander Valley with 90 % of the fruit grown on our Estate in Alexander Valley and Dry Creek Valley. Keeping with the tradition more than halve of the blend is Zinfandel blended with few other varieties resulting in very fruity yet complex and full-bodied style wine. The wine has dark red color with intense black cherry aromas, blueberries, and blackberries as an immediate impression. With aeration, nuances of ripe plums, vanilla and cocoa are showing with a dose of toasted oak and dark licorice. On the mouth the wine is fresh and juicy with youthful brightness, finishing long and fruity. This is a wine that will pair well with variety of foods, but it is also very enjoyable on its own. Our 2023 OPR is delicious now, but it will reward your patience with 2-5 years of aging. Cheers!

Borrowing from the traditions of port making, we add neutral grape spirits to stop fermentation, trapping a percentage of sugar in the wine. Once Chocolate Amore is finished aging and is ready for bottling, we infuse a tiny amount of natural chocolate extract to the final blend, creating the perfect marriage of food and wine.

Trentadue California Champagne is created using only select premium varietal wine. It is especially formulated to make it versatile, ideal for serving as an apertif or to accompany hors d’oevres and light food of all kinds. It is an attractively delicate, fruity wine with a smooth, crisp finish.

Trentadue California Champagne is made with French Colombard grapes from the Mendocino and Lodi regions, using the Charmat bulk process. The wine is fermented in large 1,000-2,000 gallon glass lined tanks and the process takes about 45 days to complete. The result is a slightly sweet, mellow style Champagne with clean fruitiness and balanced acidity, a sparkling wine with a delicate flavor layered over impressions of a pear and green apple.

While we associate Champagne with special occasions and the holiday season, sparkling wines are great just about anytime, as a cocktail before dinner, with lighter fare, and with dessert. Whatever your setting or occasion, Trentadue Champagne is a great choice for value and quality.

All Zin blocks in 2022 were harvested as early as August 30th and September 5th with relatively higher acids and sugar. About 12% of the grapes were fermented in small ½ ton open top fermenters for additional complexity of aromas and textures. The 2022 vintage is definitely in the riper than usual spectrum of flavors and aromas due to the warmer than normal weather patterns in 2022. The wine has intense varietal aromas of dark cherry, plums, blackberry jam and a hint of violets. The fine oak barrel aging brings in subtle aromas of vanilla, maple syrup, cocoa beans and slight toast. The mouth feel is solid, with full body and very soft and elegant tannins that accentuate the wine’s long and juicy finish with moderate acidity. Zinfandels when balanced are very versatile food pairing wines with broad range and this wine will satisfy your palate with many of your favorite dishes. The wine is delicious now but with some patience and proper aging in 2-5 years it will be even better. Cheers.

We harvested the 2022 Merlot Block 500 grapes on September 17th. The average sugar at harvest was 25.5 Brix- ideal for making high quality, age worthy wines. Post pressing the wine was racked twice and pumped into barrels. The majority of the wine for the final La Storia blend came from Block 500 with few barrels added from block 510. Our La Storia Merlot is and has been consistently fine example of the ability of this classic Bordeaux variety to make solid, tasty and age worthy wines. The main aromas and flavors are of dark cherry, plums, a bit of black licorice and herbs. The new oak barrels contribute a touch of vanilla, brown sugar, cocoa dust, and toast. On the mouth the wine is soft and viscous, balancing the acidity and the tannins well for such a young wine. The finish is long and soft with suggestion of sweetness backed by ripe tannins. This wine will age well and will reward your patience if stored well in the next 4-7 years. Cheers!

The 2023 Vintage of La Storia Cab has two new blocks included in the blend-the family-owned blocks that were a long-term lees to Francis Coppola Winery. The grapes for our 2023 Cabernet were harvested between October 10th and October 26th, about 20 days later than average. After destemming and cold soaking for 3 days the grapes were fermented using native and “designer “yeast for an average of 10 days. Post fermentation all three lots were put through extended maceration for an average of 35 days. The wine was aged for 18 months in 19% new and 15% one year old French Oak barrels and the rest in neutral oak barrels. Our 2023 La Storia Cab has an attractive dark red, followed by abundant varietal aromas and flavors of blueberries, blackberry, and dark plums. The French oak aging contributes aromas of maple, cocoa dust and slight toast. The mouth feel is fresh, medium to dense and juicy with balanced acidity and firm and ripe tannins. Although very drinkable now, this wine will continue to improve for 5-7 years for those who have the patience. Cheers!

Our La Storia Petite Sirah is as usually impressive and imposing with very dark, opaque color, beautiful nose of concentrated blue berries and blackberries that leads to a full body mouth feel with engagingly soft (for Petite Sirah) tannins. After a short aeration, the nose opens with the addition of cocoa, violets, slight earthiness, and graphite followed by brown sugar and a touch of vanilla – contribution of the new oak barrels. Overall, the aromas are of fresh dark fruit and very attractive. Longevity, if stored properly, is one of the virtues of this variety and it will give you the most enjoyment in 5-8 years.

The 2024 vintage is our first Sauvignon Blanc under the La Storia label.   The grapes are 100% from the fame Russian River Valley of Sonoma County, known for its Goldridge soils and cool breezes from the Pacific Ocean, perfect for delicate and flavorful varieties such as Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. This year our Sauvignon Blanc is a bit riper in overall aromas such as grapefruit, Granny Smith apples, gooseberry and fig aromas. The body is medium and focused, with obvious richness, finishing on refreshingly high notes of acidity and minerality. The wine was slowly fermented at cold temperature to preserve more of the aromatics and acidity as well as achieving fuller and viscous body. No oak was used during the aging. Enjoy this wine chilled with your favorite sea food or fruit and cheese plates.

Our 2024 Chardonnay is typical for the variety and the style with aromas of tropical fruits, ripe apples, peaches, and apricots. Further aeration reveals deeper aromas of toast with a touch of caramel and ripe Mayer lemons meringue and a bit of minerality. The mouth feel is generous and rich, with tamed acidity and long and round finish. Drink now, through 2029.

Our 2023 Cuvee 32 is the 26th vintage of this blend for Trentadue Winery. In retrospect our “Super Tuscan” blend has been highly successful and consistently our top selling wine in the Tasting Room. Every vintage has a uniquely different blend determined by the best expression of its components and how they work together. Our young Montepulciano has become an important player in the blend as well as our Brunello Clone Sangiovese. The 2023 Cuvee 32 has intense cherry/cassis aromas contributed by the Sangiovese followed by deeper red fruit aromas of plums, blueberry, and a hint of pomegranate. With more air the wine shows more complex yet still in developing stage aromas and flavors of cocoa, cinnamon, leather, and black licorice. The mouth feel is medium to full with relatively high, food friendly acidity and a long and fresh finish. Drink now through 2032. Cheers!
