Our favorite part about holiday baking? Drinking wine while we’re doing it of course! Our Italian heritage brings plenty of home-cooked meals and an abundance of baked goods around the holiday season. We’ve compiled some of our favorite cookie pairings with our favorite wines for you to try out while you’re baking away for your loved ones!

Wine: 2016 La Storia Zinfandel. This vintage brings a lively concentration of dark cherries, blueberries and plums. The kiss of oak and vanilla is the perfect paring with a nutty style cookie.

Cookie PairingPecan Thumbprints. Do we say “pee-can” or “pe-cahn”? That is the question. The answer doesn’t matter too much, because you’ll be too busy eating these buttery, crunchy cookies by the handful. That’s why we keep the Zin on hand at all times to wash it down. These cookies are perfect packaged up along with a bottle of wine for a holiday hostess gift…if you can bear to part with them!

Wine: 2014 La Storia Cuvee Evelyna is one of our prized wines from the La Storia collection, and aptly named after the Matriarch of the Trentadue family. The cool growing season of 2011 lends a firm acidity that has lent to a beautiful aging of this wine. With only 238 cases produced, this small production wine is certainly one to covet for a special treat to be enjoyed with close friends and family.

Cookie Pairing:Chocolate Amaretti Cookie. These crisp, chewy almond cookies lend the perfect balance to the lush Merlot and Cabernet in the Cuvee Evelyna. You might find yourself having “just one more” a few times after dinner with these!

WineChocolate Amore Port is our luscious dessert wine infused with a tiny amount of natural chocolate extract in the final blend, bringing balance and decadence to each sip.

Cookie Pairing: Chocolate Chip Almond Biscotti. Go all in and finish those biscotti with a chocolate dip. You’re worth it. Set at least a few of these aside for your morning coffee the next day…if there’s any left!

Wine: 2013 Muscat Canelli Port is a “fun” wine that exhibits a silky sweet but balanced mouth-feel. Expressions of white peach, apricots and lychee fruit shine in this delectable little bottle.

Cookie Pairing: Pignoli is a crisp cookie made with pine nuts and fennel seed. While that sounds like more of a recipe for pesto, it actually lends the perfect buttery balance to this cookie without being too sweet.
