The 2017 Cuvee Nicole is our sixth vintage of this blend made exclusively for our Wine Club Members. In the cellar we always knew that these kinds of blends are “killer” but it is hard to market on large scale unusual blends. The wine was made by collecting the “drips” or the “essence” from all Zinfandel and Petite Sirah lots and age it in 40% new American Oak barrels. From over 200 tons of Zinfandel and Petite Sirah grapes and 32 000 gallons of wine only 8 barrels in total made it into this blend. The wine is dark purple in color, very attractive with intense blueberry and blackberry nose, slightly smoky with hints of leather, maple and brown sugar. The mouthfeel is intense with medium to heavy body finishing smooth with soft tannins. Cheers!
