2011 Cuvee Nicole For over 4 decades Trentadue has been a solid and consistent producer of high quality Zinfandels and Petite Sirah from our Geyserville Estate Ranch. It was only a matter of time until we blended the two together as equals. The introduction of another La Storia blend for our club members was the perfect opportunity. The wine is very dark purple in color, very showy with huge blackberry and blueberry nose; smoky and toasty. The mouth feel is big, with chewy tannins, full body and a long, forever going finish. The wine will without a doubt age very well-5-7 years. Varietal: 50% Petite Sirah, 50% Zinfandel, 200 cases produced.

Tasting Notes

For over four decades, Trentadue has been a consistent producer of high quality Zinfandel and Petite Sirah from our Geyserville Estate Ranch. It was only a matter of time until the two were blended together as equals. In the cellar it was always known that these blends are fantastic, but it is hard to market unusual blends on a large scale. The introduction of this La Storia blend, exclusively for our Wine Club Members, was the perfect opportunity.

Cuvee Nicole began as individual barrels or half barrels of what we refer to as “the Drips.” This is a rough term for the perfect essence of wine remaining in the tank after draining the primary volume out. Overnight, drop by drop, the wine filtered through a huge volume of grape skins (location of ALL the flavor) by gravity and very small quantities of pure magic is collected! From more than 200 tons of Zinfandel and Petite Sirah harvested in 2011, we collected only 8 barrels! About 55% of “the Drips” was aged in new barrels for even higher concentration of flavors.

The wine is very dark purple in color, very showy, with huge blackberry and blueberry nose; smokey and toasty. The mouth feel is big with chewy tannins, full body and a long-forever finish. The wine will, without a doubt, age very well 5-7 years if properly stored.
