2006 Trentadue Grenache Rose, Clear Lake
$7.00
TASTING NOTES
The Grenache grapes for our 2006 Rosé come from Monte Lago Vineyard in Lake County. The vineyard is a spectacular property situated 2000 feet above the sea level and high above Clear Lake. The climate and the red volcanic soils are perfect for growing Mediterranean grape varieties. This delightful wine was made by directly pressing the grapes after destemming and crushing. The grapes were held in the press for about three hours before pressing until the right color was achieved. The juice was fermented to dry and the wine was restricted from going through mallolactic fermentation.
Despite its pretty, joyful, bright and saturated pink color this a serious wine! The aromas are exploding with strawberry, strawberry guava, water melon and a hint of papaya. The mouth feel is wonderfully refreshing but there is a hint of dry tannins which give this wine a surprising structure and weight. Although technically dry with only 0.2% residual sugar the wine finishes long with pleasant sweetness. Serve chilled to about 50 F.
